Carey Carter's profound connection to nature was ignited during childhood hours spent sculpting intricate forms in the sand, mesmerized by the rhythmic caress of waves and the raw beauty of rock formations. The vibrant hues of the setting sun over the ocean further deepened her fascination with the natural world.
In 2019, Carter embarked on a full-time sculpting journey, driven by a desire to create using sustainable materials.Through meticulous research, she developed a unique method employing colored sand, rock pigments, and natural binding agents to craft her sculptures.
Her series, "Muses," is a celebration of the feminine spirit. "A tribute to the power, beauty, and inner strength held by all women," Carter explains, "these sculptures signify the many faces of the feminine, in all her wondrous and mysterious aspects." By using an ancient "rammed earth" technique and natural pigments, she aims to harness the Earth's energy and infuse it into each piece, creating a powerful and calming presence.
Carter currently resides in the lush Franschhoek vineyards of the Cape with her family and animals, where she continues to explore the boundless possibilities of her craft.
